📈 Gods Unchained Now Trending on Epic Games Store

In an effort to attract mainstream Trading Card Game (TCG) and strategy gamers, web3 pioneer Gods Unchained (GU) is launching on the Epic Games Store; placing it in the same arena as other popular titles such as Hearthstone, Magic: The Gathering, and Legends of Runeterra, and opening the game to Epic's 230,000,000+ PC users in the process.

What’s Going On Here?

It seems that Epic Games Store, one of the leading digital video game storefronts, is continuing to embrace the web3 game revolution with open arms.

Gods Unchained is one of the most prolific web3 games, and probably the closest thing to Hearthstone a TCG player can find in web3. Besides the card “ownership” aspect, the effort to convert a Hearthstone player into Gods Unchained is minimal - with this launch, that conversion could get even easier.

What Does This Mean?

The inclusion of our 2022 GAM3 Awards’ Best Strategy Game and Best Card Game in the Epic Games Store is a significant milestone for web3 games. It continues to signal a growing acceptance and recognition of blockchain-powered games by the top mainstream gaming platforms.

The launch also comes with a GU rebrand titled 'Own Your Journey' to target traditional gamers. A necessary rebrand that represents the game's ambition to compete with traditional TCGs on every level.

Why Should I Care?

Gods Unchained isn’t the first nor the last web3 game to be on Epic Games; however, it’s one of the longest-standing titles with plenty of rich content to keep gamers entertained. The difference here lies in the game’s legacy, large player base, and familiarity for TCG players curious to explore “card ownership”.

By welcoming them, Epic Games is not only acknowledging web3 titles but also positioning itself as a forward-thinking platform that is ready to embrace the future of gaming; it’s also a clear indication that web3 games are here to stay.
