A new report by ChainPlay reveals that 93% of GameFi projects have failed, with projects deemed "dead" due to token price drops exceeding 90% and daily active users falling below 100. The analysis, which examined over 3,200 projects, highlights the extreme volatility of the GameFi sector, characterized by short lifespans (average of four months) and significant financial losses for investors. Despite this, high-potential projects continue to attract selective funding, with venture capital investments in GameFi reaching $859M in 2024.

The GameFi industry, which surged in popularity during the 2022 crypto boom, is struggling to maintain momentum. Many projects focused on speculative tokenomics rather than sustainable gameplay, leading to rapid declines in value and engagement. Abysswalkers offers a well-designed TCG experience with an excellent tutorial that immerses players in the game's lore. The graphics are solid, with decent VFX, though additional effects for character play could enhance the experience. The gameplay is easy to understand and has depth, but the limited card variety restricts playstyle diversity.
